Who Is Barry?

Bio:

.Barry was born in 1960 at Ft, Belvoir in Fairfax county Virginia needless to say to a military family. We moved near Columbus Ohio for a few years then on to the west side of Boston Ma. next was Alexandria where I spent the most substantial part of my life one mile away from George Washington's Mount Vernon.

Career:

Barry studied Business management at Northern Virginia Community College and made a huge mistake of dropping his education after assuming various management positions in a retail precursor to today's Wall mart "Super Center".

After the divestiture of the Bell system Barry managed a retail store that served as a training store for managers of future stores in a chain of "Public Phone Stores". As the residential phone industry calmed down, Barry moved into sales of large commercial phone system.

After Barry's mother had a debilitating stroke Barry's last business phone system client (The Cadmus Group), a consulting firm who primarily offered services to the Environmental Protection, Agency offered as a Information Technology Systems Manager. This led Barry to being hired to manage a Toyota dealerships local computer operations, which led to a position as the Director of Information Technology for a dealership (Rosner Auto Group) that operates several stores selling several makes in several states. Barry was well respected by his employers and his peers for his hands on knowledge managing large computer systems and networks.

This is where Barry's brain cancer took him from the role of the gainfully employed IT systems engineer.

Barry currently "retired" on a medical disability. Because Barry was well respected and well compensated from an early age and has bade substantial investments to social security I am currently reaping the rewards of having time to work on the house and facilitate an online peer to peer support with worldwide participants supporting the rare and aggressive brain cancer Barry’s been fighting.

The Virginia Department of Rehabilitate Has offered me assistance some assistance in becoming re employed as something better than a Wal-mart greeter. Barry has been told that he would be good in the patient assistance field because of the wealth of patient experience Barry has. We'll see what happens.

Family:

Barry is the youngest of five siblings, Born to Chester and Jeanne Gates. Both his parents have passed. Chester in 1982, Jeanne 1991. The grand parents aunts and uncles have passed Barry is the youngest of five siblings who are spread far and wide both chronologically but geographically as well:

Because of the age and geographic distances there have not been too many family reunions but we do try to stay in touch.

Barry's niece is six months older than Barry! She has two daughters both of whom have graduated college one of them is married

Barry's sister Ellen and brother Chuck have traced the family tree back to Europe to a time before before the sailing of the mayflower. Barry some times feels that he is letting the our short branch of large family tree die off. Only his sister Ellen has had any children.

Barry has had one long term relationship and one marriage that have produced three young women who hold him in respect for being a significant person in their lives. Two are married,

The oldest, Gina (whom I met when she was 7) and her Husband Joe live near Orlando two children (a boy Nicholas & girl Eleiana).

Gina's sister Christa (whom i met when she was 4) lives with her husband Phil live in Charlotte, NC. Is an office manager and studying to be a nurse

Nina the youngest (whom Barry met when she was months old) whom has recently graduated from high school and is preparing for college to work in early childhood development.

Interests:

Barry is trying very hard to minimize his impact on the planet and strives to live a green eco-freinfly and energy efficient lifestyle. His outdoor sports include Backpack camping, Kayaking, Bicycling (road), and flying kites. Some other interests of his are Photography, Astronomy. and vintage air-cooled Volkswagens

Wisdom:

Through his life journey Barry has seen many of his core values and perceptions change radically. Nowadays life is a precious blessing the he tries to live as fully as he can. Along his journey in addition to his own revelations and experiences, Barry has come across several bits of wisdom that he has placed in what he calls his wisdom box where he can review them as the need arises.
